In order to be able to learn with ICT, you must have certain basic knowledge. To use a computer and all its peripherals effectively, you must be able to identify and understand its components. For example, the operating system and the network — the environment through which a computer exists — are of paramount importance when it comes to the proper functioning of a computer. This will help you better prepare to understand software packages used on a computer, such as word processors, spreadsheets, and databases.
This module will introduce you to input and output devices. You will be required to use computer data entry using the keyboard and mouse. You will have an introductory course on the computer, the basic peripherals associated with it, and the meaning of each component and each peripheral will be explained to you. In order to understand how the computer works, you will need to study operating system concepts. Finally, you will be led to understand how the computer communicates through a network, as well as the basic use of the Internet.
